Operation of the CultureStat System

Operation of the CultureStat Rapid UTI Detection System is literally as easy as 1, 2, and 3.

Step 1: Fill the CultureStat ampoule by inserting the ampoule into the sample and either (1) twist the ampoule or (2) squeeze as if the ampoule and plastic housing was a syringe. Estimated time: 5 seconds.

Step 2: Remove glass ampoule from plastic housing, add a bar code sticker to the top, scan the bar code with the bar code scanner which identifies the sample on the database program. Estimated time: 10-15 seconds.

Step 3: Place ampoule into the CultureStat Reader and click on “Read 1” on the computer screen. The test is run automatically and data is recorded by the CultureStat Database Software Program. Estimated time: 5-10 seconds.

Total time to label and identify sample, run test and record results: 20-30 seconds.

The identification of the sample, the reading of the culture and the recording of the results is completely automated, eliminating the potential for human error. Because the entire testing process takes 30 seconds or less, test operators can conduct up to 120 tests an hour, compared to 20-25 tests an hour for plates.
